Are you even a grown up if you haven’t asked yourself how much would the home alone mortgage be?
Home Alone was one of those films that sparked Christmas vibes in most households. In 1990, this family comedy topped the box office for more than three months. It is still kicking about today 30 years later.
We remember all huddling around the super small tv (compared to nowadays) and laughing all the way through.
If you haven’t seen it, it is must for the Christmas period.
Once we had over come our excitement of writing a blog on Home Alone we decided to do a little research and find some facts about the house.
It has –
- John and Cynthia Abendshien were the owners when they filmed Home Alone
- roughly 4,243 square foot of floor space.
- 3.5 bathrooms – presumably the .5 is a separate toilet.
- 6 beds
- lot size of 0.53 acres
- was built in 1921
- last known selling price was $1,585,000 in 2012
Now for the math’s if you were to buy the Home Alone house –
671 Lincoln Ave, Winnetka, IL 60093 has been estimated to be worth approx. £1,500,000.
If you put down a 20% deposit this would equal £300,000.
On a 30 years mortgage term, with currently offered fixed rates.
This would cost you a whacking £4,500 – £5,000 a month in mortgage repayments.
Wow, now that’s some money per month to spending on mortgage payments.
